This assessment is used to investigate the possibility of whether the individual meets the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Reasons to Assess

If there are concerns related to autism-specific behaviours—such as social interaction, communication, or repetitive behaviours—this assessment can help evaluate these areas

Assess cognitive abilities that are important for learning, including verbal comprehension, fluid reasoning, processing speed, and working memory

Explore social and behavioural factors that may be impacting functioning, such as communication difficulties, anxiety, or attention challenges
What does it include?

Clinical interview (including parent)​​

MIGDAS testing

Administration and scoring of behavioural screening questionnaires

Cognitive testing, such as WISC or WAIS depending on the age of the person.

Liaison with teachers and significant supports

Reading of previous testing reports (if applicable)

Up to 1 hour Feedback session

Comprehensive report including results, detailed recommendations, any relevant diagnosis, and recommendations for appropriate interventions and/or supports or further assessment

Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients under the age of 25 undergoing Autism assessments, provided there is an appropriate referral from a GP. The initial referral covers up to four assessment sessions, each attracting a rebate of approximately $93. A second referral may be issued in extenuating circumstances to allow for additional sessions.
